RAT CATALOG the basic stuff you need to know without reading the extra stuff on my other page

If you've been thinking about getting a rat and you're ready to take the responsibility, congratulations. You're in for a great experience. Just make sure that you're really commited to keeping and caring for a rat which can live for 2-3 years. It should be not just a hobbie loving rats, but a big part of your life that should not be taken lightly.

Play Time
Please take time to play with your rats, give them lots of love and attention. They should at LEAST be out of their cages 2-3 hours a day. My rats love to hide under blankets and run around on the couch. You can get an excersize ball at pet shops and they are cheap and the rats love to roll around in them and explore new things. Just make sure wherever your rat plays, it should be a safe, healthy invironment.

NEW ENTRY!

Finding food....Take two plastic cups that aren't see through. Put the two cups upside down and put soome sort of food that they like under one of the cups. See if they can sniff the food out to get their yummy treat! Please email me at murfgirl25@hotmail.com if your rat likes this game. The gang would like to hear from you!
Toys
It is very important for your rat to play with things. It keeps them out of trouble, let's them have fun, and keeps them occupied. Some cool ideas are oatmeal tubes, hats they can sleep in ( hammacks only cheaper) (I FOUND THEY LOVE THIS)! Run-About-Balls are also good as I mentioned before.

If you want any Ideas, or if you want to give me an idea of a toy to put on this column, just email me at Murfgirl25@hotmail.com

Thank you
WHEN AND WHERE THEY SHOULD SLEEP
When they should sleep: Just to let you know, most rats are nocturnal...incase you don't know what that means, it means they sleep most of the day and are awake most of the night. So it probably wouldn't be a good idea to have their cage in the bedroom because they will probably keep you up all night. Now, I have noticed that you can reverse this in some cases...If you have your rats out most of the day it will probably sleep most of the night becuase #1. You had it up all day and #2 You wore the rat out so it is tired.
Where they should sleep: No doubt about it that they should sleep in their cage. I have noticed that my rat feels more safe when she is in her cage becuase I have an oatmeal tube, bedding, and a hat in there. It is their home. They love to sleep in their hat and oatmeal tubes. That is where they should sleep. Plus, if it is outside of their cage they could wonder off somewhere without you knowing since they like to be awake at night.

OTHER IMPORTANT AND INTERESTING NOTES

They say in India that is you eat after a rat you will have good fortune.

Some animals may not get along with your rats, so you may have to work out a plan.

If rats get a hold of wires, they'll chew them!!!
